Assistant Technical Officer (12 month fixed term contract)

Could you be the Assistant Technical Officer in Tearfund’s Disaster Management Team? The role supports teams working in disaster situations worldwide through advice, monitoring, training and equipment trouble-shooting. As one of the logisticians based in Teddington, reporting to the Technical Officer, the overseas teams will rely on your input to keep programmes running. You will have proven experience and abilities in a range of fields covering radio and satellite comms, vehicle fleet management (maintenance, leasing and insurance), electrical power generation and IT. You should have particular expertise in at least one of these and have training and coaching skills. You will have proven technical based experience, ideally overseas relief experience, and understand the demands placed on the equipment in tough operating environments. Although based in Teddington, the job will require the post holder to travel for up to 4 weeks p.a. mainly to disaster management teams worldwide. The nature of the role will require the successful applicant to apply for a Criminal Records Check (CRB).
