" THE DEFINITION OF LIVELIHOODS."Submitted by Rosa Manson on December 1, 2007 - 4:56pm.
Hi! Tags: Livelihoods
Jakep is right, there is a huge amount of research on livelihoods. As for definition, the sustainable livelihoods framework was promoted by DFID and definitions should be available on the websites mentioned. NOt clear exactly what you mean by "tools for livelihood support activities" by which I first thought you meant analytical approaches, etc etc but then thought when you were discussing "repairing tools locally" that you probably meant actual, physical tools, like hoes, or bicycles.. in which case you may also look at www.practicalaction.org see Denise Melvin's post on this website - 24th November.. A vast amount of research exists on livelihoods. The best starting point I know of is at http://www.livelihoods.org/
For definitions, see the DFID website. Including: http://www.dfid.gov.uk/research/rurallivelihoods.asp
